The Story in 60 Seconds

Lamine Yamal's former youth coaches at CF La Torreta have shared memories of the Spanish forward's earliest days in football. Youth coordinator Inocente Diez spotted Yamal's exceptional, one-in-a-million talent when he arrived as a four-year-old and frequently drove him to training sessions whenever Yamal's father was unable to transport him.

Early coach Leo Giordanella recalled benching Yamal occasionally to teach him passing and teamwork over purely individualistic play. Yamal eventually joined Barcelona's youth academy in 2014 at age seven, going on to win the European Championship and reach the 2026 World Cup final with Spain.
