Freddy Peralta has been on quite the baseball odyssey over the past year, but he has to like where it has taken him — to the mound to start Game 3 of the 2026 World Series. It’s just irony that…

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta is scheduled to start Game 3 of the 2026 World Series against his former team, the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rays trail the series 2-0 heading into three games at Tropicana Field. Peralta joined Tampa Bay via trade prior to the MLB trade deadline after previously being traded by Milwaukee to the New York Mets before the 2026 season.
Milwaukee initially traded Peralta and Tobias Myers to the Mets for prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat. After struggling with a 4.99 ERA in New York, Peralta was dealt to the Rays for Gary Gill Hill, Emilien Pitre, and Aidan Smith. Peralta subsequently revived his season with a 3.25 regular season ERA for Tampa Bay and a 1.08 ERA across four postseason appearances.
