Robert Gasser has flipped his pitch mix in the postseason.

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Robert Gasser has drastically altered his pitch repertoire during the 2026 postseason, heavily shifting toward his sinker. After throwing his sinker and four-seam fastball at an identical 23% rate during the regular season, Gasser raised his sinker usage to 48% against the San Diego Padres and 54% in a scoreless start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He threw only five four-seamers in each outing.
Writer Anthony Licciardi analyzes why Milwaukee implemented this change ahead of Gasser starting Game 3 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Licciardi suggests the Brewers may be prioritizing home run prevention, noting that Gasser commands the sinker well and that teammate DL Hall underwent a similar shift. The Brewers enter Game 3 holding a 2-0 series lead.
