The Story in 60 Seconds

U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes has extended an injunction blocking the Trump administration's renovation plans for the historic East Potomac Golf Course in Washington. The ruling prohibits the federal government from cutting down or harming additional trees on the public course. Additionally, the administration is now required to provide 10 days of written notice before making any irreparable modifications while the ongoing lawsuit proceeds.

The legal challenge was brought by the D.C. Preservation League and two golfers, who argue that unannounced work is causing irreversible destruction. Judge Reyes previously rebuked the government after at least 400 trees were removed over a holiday weekend. Donald Trump had announced plans to shut the 106-year-old course for 15 months for redevelopment.
