The Seattle Mariners are set to host managerial candidates Joe Espada and Jason Kanzler for in-person interviews, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Both candidates have advanced past the virtual interview stage as Seattle seeks to make a decision by the end of October. The organization is looking to replace its managerial position and reshape its coaching staff.
Both candidates previously served together on the Houston Astros coaching staff under Dusty Baker. Espada, 51, managed the Astros after serving as an assistant with the Marlins and Yankees. Kanzler, 36, worked as the Astros' hitting coordinator before becoming the Chicago Cubs' director of player development in 2024.
