Ausar Thompson is questionable for the Pistons' trip to Madison Square Garden, and the winless Knicks will be quietly confident of avoiding a fourth straight defeat if the young forward sits again.

Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson is questionable for Tuesday's game against the New York Knicks due to a right ankle sprain. The unbeaten Pistons enter Madison Square Garden at 3-0 despite also missing center Jalen Duren with a hamstring strain. The defending champion Knicks are seeking their first win of the season after an 0-3 start and will be without guard Jose Alvarado because of an ankle sprain.
Elsewhere across the league's October 27 schedule, the Boston Celtics have ruled out Devin Carter indefinitely with mononucleosis. The Sacramento Kings visit the San Antonio Spurs without Ben Simmons, who is out for the season following Achilles surgery, while Tobias Harris remains sidelined for San Antonio. Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers visit the Los Angeles Lakers with Shaedon Sharpe out and Scoot Henderson listed with ankle soreness.
