The Story in 60 Seconds

Ugandan boxer Aziz Abdul, the grandson of former dictator Idi Amin, was disqualified and stripped of his silver medal at the African Boxing Championships in Nairobi. Competing in the 90kg final, the 25-year-old struck Egyptian opponent Mohamed Hossen around the back of the head just as the bell sounded after breaking from a clinch. Hossen was floored by the blow, leading officials to disqualify Abdul and award Hossen the victory.

The incident marks Abdul's second major tournament disqualification within months following his removal from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July. In that event, Abdul was disqualified during a super-heavyweight quarter-final against England's Damar Thomas after receiving three warnings for headbutting, subsequently alleging officiating bias and anti-African racism.
