Liverpool look like they've got a free run to sign one of Europe's top midfielders. Can anyone even stop them from here?
Alex Caple of Anfield Watch argues that Liverpool now have a clear path to complete a permanent transfer for AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara. Chelsea reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott instead, leaving Liverpool as the clear frontrunners to sign the Senegal international for a reported €70m asking price.
Liverpool previously indicated to Monaco that they would meet the club's valuation after a summer move fell through. Caple suggests Liverpool urgently need midfield reinforcements following the departure of Curtis Jones and heavy reliance on teenager Trey Nyoni.
