Chuba Akpom knew that the summer after Ipswich Town’s promotion to the Premier League had to be different.
Ipswich Town forward Chuba Akpom revealed he took part in an intensive solo summer training camp in Portugal to prepare for the Premier League season. After starting only seven Championship games during the club's promotion campaign, the 31-year-old isolated himself in the Algarve for double and triple training sessions to regain his best form ahead of his permanent move from Ajax.
Akpom stated that manager Gary O'Neil instilled strong confidence in him from his arrival by confirming the attacker remained part of his plans. The forward has scored two goals this season in all competitions, making regular appearances off the bench while competing for minutes with teammates Zian Flemming and Emersonn.
