Former Proteas batter urges hosts to bowl well on batting-friendly conditions as Australia prepares to reply to South Africa's 329 in the Cape Town Test.
Former South Africa batter Herschelle Gibbs has warned the Proteas that they must bowl well on batting-friendly conditions at Newlands as Australia begins replying to the hosts' first-innings total of 329. Gibbs noted that cloudless skies and days two and three provide the optimal batting conditions in Cape Town, offering Australia's batters a major opportunity.
South Africa collapsed from 158 without loss to 329 all out after Mitchell Starc claimed 6 for 72 on the opening day. Australia began their reply with Travis Head and Matt Renshaw opening the batting in the series-deciding third Test.
