The Story in 60 Seconds

Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli moved to within touching distance of the Formula 1 world championship following his victory at the United States Grand Prix. The Italian holds a 123-point lead over teammate George Russell with only 125 points remaining across the final five rounds. Antonelli needs just two more points at the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix, meaning a ninth-place finish or better will secure his first world title regardless of Russell's result.

A tight contest continues for second place in the drivers' standings, with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton sitting just one point behind Russell. Red Bull's Max Verstappen trails Hamilton by five points, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc is nine points behind Russell after finishing second in Austin. In the constructors' championship, Mercedes leads with 607 points over Ferrari's 474 points, while Red Bull and McLaren are tied for third with 355 points.
