Newcastle appoint Tomas Amaral as new head of first-team recruitment

Newcastle United have appointed 35-year-old Tomas Amaral as their new head of first-team recruitment. The Portuguese previously worked as sporting director at Spartak Moscow and held scouting positions at Benfica, Real Valladolid, SD Eibar, and Granada CF. Sporting director Ross Wilson stated that the appointment represents a vital step in reshaping and strengthening the club's recruitment operations.

Amaral's remit will focus strictly on Newcastle's senior squad following the departures of former head of recruitment Steve Nickson to Wrexham and senior football executive Andy Howe. Under the restructured system, former head of youth recruitment Paul Midgley will report directly to Wilson as head of global talent development.
