Laval @ Calgary recap and highlights: Rocket comeback goes for naught out West

The Laval Rocket fell short in their road matchup against the Calgary Wranglers despite mounting an effort to rally. Laval entered the contest looking to bounce back from an ended winning streak, but Calgary struck first late in the opening period when Mike Benning lifted a shot over goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen with only eight seconds remaining before the intermission.

Laval outshot Calgary 19-6 in the first frame and generated multiple quality chances against Wranglers goaltender Arsenii Sergeev, including attempts from Alex Belzile and David Reinbacher. Roster adjustments also saw Laurent Dauphin center the second line with Owen Beck recalled to the Montreal Canadiens, while Vincent Arseneau returned to fourth-line duties.
