‘Outstanding’ – Sunderland legend hails squad strength now available to Regis Le Bris

Sunderland legend Gary Bennett praised manager Regis Le Bris and the squad's impressive depth following a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over Brentford. A much-changed Black Cats side secured a place in the competition's quarter-finals at the Stadium of Light, led by goals from Chemsdine Talbi, Timur Tutierov, and Malick Fofana.

Speaking to BBC Radio Newcastle, Bennett highlighted right-winger Jocelin Ta Bi as outstanding after contributing to all three goals. Brentford responded through Callum Wilson and Igor Thiago, but Sunderland held on. Bennett suggested that despite the impressive squad performance, midfielder Habib Diarra is the only backup currently pushing for an immediate starting role.
