Barmore's usage in 2026 is down across the board compared to 2025.

The New England Patriots are reportedly open to trading defensive tackle Christian Barmore ahead of the NFL trade deadline, according to NFL insider Albert Breer. Barmore's on-field usage has decreased across the board during the 2026 season compared to 2025, notably falling to a 36 percent usage rate against the run. Addressing the reduced playing time, Barmore stated that he does everything his coaches ask and referred further questions to the coaching staff.
The Patriots' deep rotation along the defensive line has contributed to Barmore's reduced snap counts, with several other linemen earning consistent repetitions. Furthermore, New England faces tight salary cap constraints, likely requiring incoming player salary in any trade agreement made by executive Eliot Wolf and head coach Mike Vrabel. The NFL trade deadline is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 at 4 p.m.
