Blues legend Brett Hull made a shocking revelation about Mike Keenan's habit of scratching players, particularly during sentimental games.

St. Louis Blues legend Brett Hull revealed on the Ice Guardians podcast that the worst act by former head coach Mike Keenan was healthy scratching Dale Hawerchuk against the Buffalo Sabres. Hawerchuk, who was nearing the end of his NHL career, had his elderly grandmother attending the game to watch him play against his former team.
Hull stated that Keenan stripped him of the team captaincy the following morning after Hull confronted him over the decision. Former Blues player Jamal Mayers also shared that players avoided buying multiple tickets for family members because they feared Keenan would scratch them if he discovered their plans.
