Former Hull FC Challenge Cup winner appointed to Championship coaching role

Former Hull FC player and 2005 Challenge Cup winner Richard Whiting has joined Championship side Goole Vikings as an assistant coach for the 2027 season. The 41-year-old will link up with newly appointed head coach Brett Ferres, who replaced Scott Taylor following Taylor's return to Hull FC. Whiting will lead the club's technical coaching programme.

Whiting made over 330 professional appearances during his career, including 257 for Hull FC and three international caps for England. He previously held off-field roles with Toronto Wolfpack and York Valkyrie. Whiting credited his long-standing relationship and discussions with former Hull FC chief executive James Clark as a primary factor in his decision to join the Vikings.
