Lightning Get Concerning Nikita Kucherov Warning Amidst Trade Request

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov requested a trade largely due to frustration with the slow pace of contract extension talks. Friedman warned that convincing Kucherov to reverse his stance will be very difficult, noting that individuals familiar with the superstar say he rarely changes his mind once a decision is made.

Tampa Bay general manager Julien BriseBois stated that the organization unequivocally has no intention of trading Kucherov. Despite the trade request, Kucherov posted three assists in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Nashville Predators, while Friedman mentioned the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens as potential destinations if a move occurs.
