Nikita Kucherov's agent, Dan Milstein, confirmed on Saturday, October 31, that the Tampa Bay Lightning star intends to continue playing despite requesting a trade. Milstein noted that Kucherov will focus on playing hockey while his representation handles business discussions going forward. The confirmation came ahead of Tampa Bay's game against the Nashville Predators, following reports that the forward requested a trade and declined to sign an extension.
Tampa Bay general manager Julien BriseBois responded by stating that the franchise has no intention of trading Kucherov. The 33-year-old forward is in the final season of an eight-year, $76 million contract and reportedly turned down a four-year extension worth roughly $15 million annually.
