The New York Giants reportedly showed interest in acquiring Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne via trade prior to his recent foot injury. Ian Rapoport reported that Washington made Payne available, but a potential deal was derailed after Payne sustained a season-ending Jones fracture in his right foot during practice.
Following the injury, the Commanders placed Payne on injured reserve. The 29-year-old defensive tackle is playing out the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent next year.
