Kraken trade F Shane Wright for Nashville’s Matthew Wood one for one

The Seattle Kraken have traded forward Shane Wright to the Nashville Predators in a one-for-one deal for forward Matthew Wood. Wright had previously requested a trade following persistent difficulties securing consistent ice time and finding his role in Seattle's lineup. In return, the Kraken acquire Wood, a former first-round pick selected 15th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Kraken general manager Jason Botterill praised Wood's size, hockey sense, and elite shooting ability following the announcement. Wood arrives in Seattle having registered 34 points in 91 career NHL games with Nashville. Statistically, both young forwards have averaged around 13 minutes of ice time per game over comparable three-year spans.
