Exactly who will lead a bright Dragons future is unclear.

St George Illawarra Dragons head coach Dean Young has revealed that the club's captaincy for 2027 remains undecided, with incumbent Clint Gutherson in contention alongside several new recruits. Speaking to News Corp, Young explained that he prefers having a single leader rather than co-captains, but will spend the pre-season evaluating training, behavior, and emerging leadership before finalizing his decision.
With new arrival Scott Drinkwater slated to take the fullback role, Gutherson faces competition to secure a starting spot in the centres. Additional leadership contenders among the new signings reportedly include Keaon Koloamatangi, Kodi Nikorima, and Drinkwater, following the off-season departure of experienced hooker Damien Cook.
