Former Newcastle United cult hero sent off for grabbing his crotch at opponent

Former Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin received a red card for Charlotte FC after appearing to grab his crotch toward Orlando City player Wilder Cartagena. Referee Victor Rivas reviewed the pitch-side monitor following a VAR intervention before issuing the ejection for insulting actions. Despite Saint-Maximin scoring earlier and later having a penalty saved, Charlotte maintained control to secure a victory featuring a late goal from Rodolfo Aloko.

The dismissal arrives with just one match remaining in the MLS regular season before Charlotte, currently fourth in the standings, enter the playoffs. Managed by Dean Smith, Charlotte next face Inter Miami. Saint-Maximin joined Charlotte from Lens in July and has contributed two goals and four assists in 14 league appearances.
