The Seattle Kraken traded center Shane Wright to the Nashville Predators in exchange for 6-foot-4 right wing Matthew Wood. Kraken general manager Jason Botterill officially announced the permanent trade on Sunday, praising Wood's size, offensive potential, and hockey sense. Wright, the fourth overall pick in 2022, reportedly requested a trade out of Seattle earlier in the year.
Wright departs Seattle after tallying 39 goals and 43 assists in 183 appearances for the Kraken. Wood, who was drafted 15th overall in 2023, compiled 34 points in 91 career regular-season games with Nashville. He is set to join Seattle ahead of the club's trip to Finland for the 2026 Global Series.
