The Jacksonville Jaguars might have lost DaVon Hamilton for the season and have signed Austin Johnson to the practice squad to fill the void.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive tackle Austin Johnson to their practice squad following a potentially season-ending quad injury to DaVon Hamilton. The signing comes one day after Jacksonville's Week 8 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. To create roster space, the team released long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer, with starting long snapper Ross Matiscik returning from a shoulder injury.
Johnson previously played for Jacksonville during the 2025 season, recording 12 tackles and one sack across 14 appearances. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Hamilton's injury has heightened Jacksonville's urgency to add interior defensive line depth ahead of the 2026 trade deadline, with Johnson initially serving as rotation depth.
