In a team mailbag, Seahawks reporter John Boyle dismissed claims that quarterback Sam Darnold's injury was fabricated as a soft benching following Monday's defeat to the Chicago Bears. Head coach Mike Macdonald announced Darnold will miss Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals after sustaining a fractured rib and a quad injury. Backup quarterback Drew Lock has also been dealing with a limited elbow injury during recent practices.
Boyle also discussed the NFL trade deadline, noting general manager John Schneider may explore more additions following the acquisition of guard Quenton Nelson. Additionally, head coach Macdonald indicated that injured players Leonard Williams, Charles Cross, Rashid Shaheed, and Uchenna Nwosu all have an opportunity to return for the upcoming game against Arizona.
