A lack of funding and player commitments prompted LIV Golf to tell a bankruptcy court it will liquidate its assets and halt plans to relaunch the league.

LIV Golf will pursue full liquidation of its assets after plans to relaunch the competition as LIV 2.0 collapsed due to insufficient player commitments and funding. Legal representatives announced the decision in a New Jersey bankruptcy court on Thursday, confirming that the league will file a wind-down plan. The collapse followed the withdrawal of BC Partners from a planned $300 million investment.
The London-based firm withdrew after roughly 10 golfers declined to commit by an October 25 deadline, following earlier departures by Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, and Patrick Reed. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which previously funded the tour with an estimated $5 billion to $6 billion, ceased financing in April, leaving CEO Scott O'Neil unable to sustain operations.
