The Story in 60 Seconds

Pundit Jamie Carragher has defended his stance that Manchester United remains a much bigger club than Aston Villa. Writing in his column for the Telegraph, Carragher argued that managers face far higher pressure and scrutiny at Old Trafford than at Villa Park, pointing out that Unai Emery received more understanding following a recent 3-0 Champions League defeat against Barcelona.

Carragher's comments follow a dispute where Aston Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris threatened legal action after Carragher previously suggested Emery should consider United and told Villa fans to quiet down. Although Carragher apologised for his language, he maintained his viewpoint ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash between 17th-placed Manchester United and 10th-placed Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
