The Story in 60 Seconds

Newcastle United forward Matías Fernández-Pardo has withdrawn from Belgium's squad for upcoming Nations League fixtures due to illness. Belgium manager Mark van Bommel confirmed the decision on November 6, 2026, ahead of matches against Türkiye and Italy. Van Bommel explained that the forward chose to sit out because he is not at full fitness, having only trained twice since October 17.

The absence adds to a challenging start for Fernández-Pardo following his €60m summer move to Newcastle from Lille.
