Key Things to Know

The Story in 60 Seconds

Newcastle United's hierarchy and majority owners PIF are not considering replacing head coach Matthias Jaissle despite growing pressure, according to The Athletic's Chris Waugh. Following a 1-0 home defeat to Everton, club leadership met with players and staff at the Benton training ground, deciding to rally behind Eddie Howe's successor rather than make an immediate managerial change ahead of Saturday's match against Fulham.

Jaissle retains the backing of CEO David Hopkinson, sporting director Ross Wilson, and performance director James Bunce, who facilitated his appointment after paying around €10 million to release him from Al-Ahli. However, Newcastle currently sits in 13th place, just four points clear of the relegation zone, and Waugh noted that the hierarchy's support will not remain indefinite if results fail to improve.
