The new Anthony Gordon has already officially signed for Newcastle

Football FanCast writer Ethan Lamb argues that Newcastle United already own the ideal replacement for Anthony Gordon in 19-year-old winger Antonito Cordero. Newcastle sold Gordon to Barcelona for a reported £69m in the summer, but subsequent big-money signings Bazoumana Toure and Matias Fernandez-Pardo have struggled to make an immediate impact at St James' Park.

Cordero joined Newcastle permanently from Malaga in 2025 and is currently on loan at Spanish side Cadiz. Lamb highlights that the young attacker has scored five goals and registered one assist in ten starts in LaLiga 2, arguing his creative output and underlying statistics position him to push for a first-team role under manager Matthias Jaissle next season.
