The Story in 60 Seconds

Former Good Good Golf VP of brand and marketing Jeffrey Lefkovits has filed a defamation lawsuit exceeding $1 million against the company and former CEO Matt Kendrick. Lefkovits was fired following widespread backlash over an August Callaway advertisement showing co-founder Garrett Clark shoving a female golfer to the ground. The lawsuit, filed in Texas, alleges that Kendrick spread false statements by scapegoating Lefkovits and the marketing team for the controversial commercial.

According to the suit, Lefkovits had approved a lighthearted parody script, but the controversial scene was conceived and filmed without his knowledge while he was away. In the wake of the initial controversy, Callaway terminated its partnership with Good Good and pledged $1 million to combat violence against women. Good Good subsequently stepped away from sponsoring a PGA Tour event, while the Golf Channel canceled their planned reality show.
