Lakers Video: Luka Doncic Still Among LeBron James’ Favorite Players

LeBron James confirmed that Luka Doncic and Cade Cunningham remain two of his favorite players in the NBA following a recent Philadelphia 76ers victory. Despite James departing the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason after eight seasons to sign with Philadelphia, he publicly dispelled rumors of a feud with Doncic. The statement reaffirmed their mutual respect as the Lakers transition to building exclusively around the Slovenian guard.

Ron Gutterman highlights that James values versatility, passing, and shot creation, traits demonstrated by both Doncic and Cunningham. Meanwhile, Doncic has opened the 2026-27 season averaging 38.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game, prompting ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins to compare his mentality to Kobe Bryant. James and Doncic are scheduled to face each other on Christmas Day in Los Angeles.
