Tom Wilson won’t face supplemental discipline for his boarding hit on Sandis Vilmanis, as the NHL ruled Vilmanis turned just before contact.

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson will not face supplemental discipline from the NHL for his boarding hit on Florida Panthers player Sandis Vilmanis, according to Elliotte Friedman. Wilson had received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct during the contest, which resulted in Vilmanis leaving with an injury.
The NHL Department of Player Safety determined no further punishment was warranted because Vilmanis turned right before contact, leaving Wilson almost no time to adjust. Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery defended Wilson, explaining that the forward was already committed to the hit before Vilmanis turned.
