Ex-pros dish on U.S. team golf failures: ‘Overblown, overdone and overanalyzed’

Former professional golfer Rocco Mediate has criticized the U.S. Ryder Cup team's approach, calling the analysis surrounding their recent failures "overblown, overdone, and overanalyzed." Speaking at the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, Mediate argued that the Ryder Cup is an exhibition and urged the American side to break their cycle of appointing the same captains and assistants.

In contrast, Justin Leonard, an assistant captain for the upcoming Ryder Cup in Ireland under Jim Furyk, defended the team's preparation. Leonard revealed that the PGA of America is actively working on a new playbook, which includes updated stats and data analysts, a revised points structure, and a focus on building long-term continuity.
