Wales star named Gloucester captain as new team-mates make feelings clear

Dewi Lake has been named Gloucester Rugby captain for the 2026/27 season following input from both the coaching staff and his teammates. The 27-year-old Wales hooker joined the Premiership club ahead of the upcoming campaign and will lead the squad at Kingsholm. Lake has previously captained the Welsh national team on 22 occasions.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington explained that Lake's leadership experience was a vital factor in the decision, which followed weeks of internal evaluation. Lake will be supported by two vice-captains, England center Seb Atkinson and Wales back-row Jac Morgan, as he takes over the captaincy duties for the team.
