Rangers won’t extend player’s contract, he will become free agent in 2027 – report

Rangers defender John Souttar is reportedly unlikely to play for the club again following Clinton Nsiala's permanent transfer to Sharjah FC. Souttar, who has not featured this season under manager Derek McInnes, remains out of favor after potential moves failed to materialize. Rangers reportedly do not intend to trigger a one-year extension on his contract, meaning he is expected to leave as a free agent next year.

McInnes has preferred a defensive pairing of Emmanuel Fernandez and Olwethu Makhanya, alongside Ben Godfrey, leaving the 29-year-old Scotland international sidelined. Earlier interest from Greek club Aris, as well as teams in England and America, did not lead to a departure. As a result, Souttar faces an uncertain tenure at Ibrox ahead of the January transfer window.
