Stützle offers a glimpse of what’s to come despite a rough night for the Senators

The Ottawa Senators suffered a 6-1 preseason loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a split-squad double-header at Scotiabank Arena. Despite the heavy defeat, Senators center Tim Stützle provided a bright spot by scoring his team's lone goal early in the first period. The game allowed Ottawa to test a potential top line featuring Stützle, Drake Batherson, and newly acquired winger André Burakovsky.

Stützle's goal was assisted by Burakovsky and rookie Christian Kyrou on just the second shot of the game. The play saw Stützle beat defenseman Darren Raddysh and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. The Senators ultimately lost both split-squad games played against the Maple Leafs during the night.
