Sam Goodman (22-1, 8 KOs) says he has left the past behind and is ready to join Australian boxing royalty when he meets former IBF bantamweight world champion Ryosuke Nishida (11-1, 2 KOs) for the IBF interim world super bantamweight…

Australian boxer Sam Goodman faces former IBF bantamweight champion Ryosuke Nishida for the IBF interim world super bantamweight title this Sunday at Toyota Arena in Tokyo. Ranked No. 2 by the IBF, Goodman takes on the top-ranked Nishida on the Prime Video Boxing 16 card, which is headlined by Takuma Inoue and Tenshin Nasukawa.
A victory would see Goodman join Lionel Rose, Johnny Famechon, and Andrew Moloney as Australian fighters who won world titles in Japan. Goodman previously withdrew from two scheduled bouts against Naoya Inoue due to sparring cuts and later suffered a decision loss to Nick Ball for the WBA featherweight championship.
