Shevchenko: ‘The real heroes defend our country, I’ve got my Ballon d’Or back now’

Ukrainian FA President Andriy Shevchenko stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport that peace in Ukraine is his biggest wish ahead of his 50th birthday. The former AC Milan and Chelsea striker stated that the real heroes are the people defending Ukraine as part of the resistance, rather than sports figures.

Shevchenko also explained that he retrieved his Ballon d'Or trophy from the Milan museum to bring it to Ukraine. Alongside Oleg Blokhin and Igor Belanov, he used the trophy for an inspirational tour aimed at motivating younger generations during difficult times.
