Why Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson let Harry Ashfield leave Racecourse

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson explained that he allowed attacking midfielder Harry Ashfield to leave the club because he did not want to block the player's development. The 20-year-old departed his hometown club on transfer deadline day to join League One side Peterborough United on a permanent deal.

Parkinson stated that the move provides Ashfield with regular playing time to help his ambitions with the Welsh under-21 team. As part of the transfer agreement, Wrexham secured a sell-on clause along with matching rights on any future bids Peterborough accepts for the midfielder.
