Ballon d’Or tie-breaker rules: How France Football decides

France Football has released the specific tie-breaker rules that will determine the winner of the Ballon d'Or if players tie for first place. Under the confirmed regulations, any deadlock will first be broken by counting which candidate received the most first-place votes.

If players remain tied, officials will successively evaluate the number of second-place votes, third-place votes, and subsequent ballot positions down the list. If a tie still persists across all ballot spots, the final winner will be decided directly by the editor-in-chief of France Football.
