Chase Harrington named Spokane Chiefs captain, records Gordie Howe hat trick in WHL return

Calgary Flames prospect Chase Harrington was named Spokane Chiefs captain and recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick in a 3-2 victory against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday. After being introduced as team captain in a pre-game ceremony, the 18-year-old scored a first-period goal, set up two goals, and fought Dylan LeBret to lead Spokane to the season-opening win.

Harrington assisted on markers by Tyus Sparks and Nathan Mayes before dropping the gloves early in the third period. The 2026 second-round draft pick is expected to contend for a spot on Canada's 2027 World Junior Championship squad as Spokane prepares for their next game against the Portland Winterhawks.
