Frenkie de Jong reaches decision on joining Chelsea from Barcelona in January

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has reportedly decided against a permanent transfer to Chelsea during the January transfer window. Despite Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso expressing strong interest in bringing the Netherlands international to Stamford Bridge, De Jong intends to remain with the Catalan club midway through the season.

De Jong, who is under contract at Barcelona until 2029, is currently sidelined with a knee injury. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reportedly considers him a key piece of the squad and fully backs the midfielder once he returns to fitness.
