Re-Signing Brandon Lowe Will Be Pirates’ Top Offseason Priority

The Pittsburgh Pirates have made re-signing second baseman Brandon Lowe their primary priority heading into the offseason, according to general manager Ben Cherington and manager Don Kelly. Acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays, Lowe completed a standout season where he batted .260 with 35 home runs and 96 RBI across a career-high 150 games.

Lowe is expected to receive and reject a qualifying offer before entering free agency, where he could seek a three- or four-year contract exceeding $20 million annually. Alongside his offensive contributions, the 32-year-old recorded plus-14 defensive runs saved and served as a veteran clubhouse leader.
