Report: Liverpool still chasing in-demand Virgil van Dijk successor

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as a potential long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, according to a report from TEAMtalk. With both Van Dijk and Joe Gomez entering the final years of their contracts, manager Andoni Iraola's side could look to bring in a new central defender on a permanent deal.

Inter Milan reportedly value the 27-year-old Italian center-back at nearly £70 million. While Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester City are also credited with an interest in Bastoni, Liverpool have allegedly conducted extensive background work to prepare for a prospective move.
