Boston Bruins Announce James Hagens Decision, Final Roster Before Opener

The Boston Bruins finalized their 23-man roster on Sunday ahead of their season opener against the New York Rangers. The opening-night roster features rookie forward James Hagens, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft, alongside two other rookies. To finalize the group, Boston waived defenseman Henri Jokiharju and sent forwards Riley Duran and Dans Locmelis to the AHL's Providence Bruins.

Center Matthew Poitras was placed on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury suffered on September 22. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy will miss the start of the regular season while serving a carryover playoff suspension, allowing blueliner Frederic Brunet to secure a spot alongside veterans Will Borgen, Hampus Lindholm, and Nikita Zadorov.
