Out to build on playoff berth, Bruins open vs. revamped Rangers

The Boston Bruins open their 2026-27 season on Tuesday against the New York Rangers under head coach Marco Sturm. David Pastrnak enters the campaign as Boston's newly named 28th captain following his fourth consecutive 100-point season. The Bruins also welcome new addition JJ Peterka alongside returning top goal scorer Morgan Geekie, while Jeremy Swayman returns in goal.

Boston will be without defenseman Charlie McAvoy for six games due to a suspension carrying over from last postseason. Meanwhile, the Rangers enter the opener with a remodeled roster featuring Pavel Dorofeyev, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Sean Durzi, and rookie Alberts Smits after missing the playoffs last season.
