The Boston Red Sox may include 27-year-old outfielder Braiden Ward on their AL Wild Card Series roster against the New York Yankees. If selected, Ward could become just the seventh player in Major League history to make his big league debut during the postseason, serving primarily as a pinch-running specialist.
Ward spent the entire 2026 regular season with Triple-A Worcester, establishing a franchise record with 61 stolen bases while being caught only nine times. Over 523 career Minor League games across six seasons, the former 16th-round draft pick has accumulated 272 stolen bases.
