UAE players availability uncertain ahead of ILT20 auction

Top UAE players face uncertain availability for the fifth edition of the ILT20 due to a schedule clash with the 2027 ODI World Cup Qualifier playoffs. The ILT20 is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 20 in the UAE, while the ICC Qualifier playoffs are scheduled from December 1 to 22. Six franchises are preparing for the player auction on October 1 in Dubai amid concerns regarding player participation.

The Emirates Cricket Board reportedly asked the ICC to postpone the playoffs to January, but the request was declined due to a congested calendar. ILT20 interim chief operating officer Mike Fordham stated that if the UAE qualifies, selected players will miss part of the tournament. The 44-player marquee auction shortlist includes 22 UAE cricketers, such as Muhammad Waseem, Junaid Siddique, and Alishan Sharafu.
